Pastor Greg Boyd - I grew up in a Christian home, but did not understand my need to receive Jesus as my Lord and Savior until I was in college. By that time, I had made a mess of my life and was desperate for help. God began straightening out my life through His Word and through the love and example of a young Christian named Diane. Diane and I were married at Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa in 1980, and we have three wonderful grown children, Sarah, Shelley, and Nathaniel.

After a month or so of marriage, Diane reminded me that we should be serving in our church, so we volunteered for something "easy", teaching children. As I prayed for the help I needed, God began to shape me into a teacher of His Word. In 1982, we began attending Calvary Chapel in Antioch, and in 1984 God allowed me the privilege of teaching adults. It soon became clear that God had more in mind, and I subsequently became the Assistant Pastor. God has continued to straighten out my life, and in September of 2008 led the Board of Calvary Chapel Merced to call me to be their new Senior Pastor.

Pastor Tom Porter - I knew of the Lord by the time I was 12 years old, but I did not know the Lord personally until I was in my late 30's. I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior and was re-baptized in 1983. Along with my wife Nancy and our two daughters, Natalie and Kayla, we attended Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa until the Lord brought us to Merced in 1991. We have attended Calvary Chapel Merced ever since.

In 1998 I strongly felt the Lord's call in my life to serve Him more fully. I was ordained on September 11th, 2000 and I currently serve as an assistant pastor at Calvary Chapel Merced. I retired from my job as the West Coast Inside Sales Manager for a national packaging company in 2017.
